SibLinks (UK) www.siblinks.org Aims to support young people in the UK aged between 13-25 years who are the sibling or child of a person with cancer. Organises social events and distributes educational materials. The website is currently under construction. SuperSibs (US) www.supersibs.org This organisation aims to "support, honor and recognise" the siblings of chilkdren with cancer. Specifically aims to support children between the age of 4-18 years. Provides advocacy in the form of education resources for siblings and for those who care for them. Oranises social and awareness sibling inclusion events. Distributes "smileCards" and welcome packs for siblings. ----- The following four publications were launched in 2004 by the UK Childhood Cancer Study Group. These sibling resources are available from CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia In Childhood) in the UK. However, the CLIC website does not currently carry information about them. Please contact CLIC directly to obtain copies. There is no charge to families for these materials. A leaflet with basic advice and ideas for adults who care for and work with siblings of children with cancer. "My Brother Has Cancer" By Katherine Ballard, in association with the Birmingham Children's Hospital Sibling Group and UKCCSG Sibling Project Group. Funded by Macmillan Cancer Relief. A storybook for children aged 4-9. Contains sections for children to fill in to personalise the book. "When Your Brother Or Sister Gets Cancer" By Katherine Ballard, in association with the Birmingham Children's Hospital Sibling Group and UKCCSG Sibling Project Group. Funded by Macmillan Cancer Relief. An information and support resource for children aged 10yrs and above who have a brother or sister with cancer. |
